Fun Paper Plate Unicorn Mask Tutorial

Kids enjoy make believe and role playing so why not show them how to make this cool Paper Plate Unicorn Mask. It’s another Easy Kids Craft and you’ll probably have what you need lying around the house.

How to Make a Paper Plate Unicorn Mask

Paper Plate Unicorn MaskFirst, let’s get everything ready so you can leave the little ones to get busy and avoid all those interruptions.

Skill Level – Med

Time Required – 30 minutes

What you will need

  • Large paper plate
  • White construction card
  • Glitter card
  • White paint (optional)
  • Colored yarn
  • Hole punch
  • Glue
  • Color markers
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Coin or cookie cutter

Step 1

First, trace 2 eyes on to the top of the paper plate using a large coin or cookie cutter and cut out. Then cut 2 ears and color in the centre.

Next, punch some holes at the top of the paper plate for your unicorn fringe.

Then cut your yarn approx 5 – 6in depending on how long you want your fringe. Don’t forget you can trim it later if you have made it to long. For extra thickness use 2 strands of yarn per hole. Fold the yarn in half and thread through the hole, then thread your ends through your yarn loop pulling it through to attach to the top of the unicorn mask.

Now cut out a long triangle for the unicorn using your glitter card. Then glue the ears and horn to the back of the plate.

For something extra punch some holes in the side of the unicorn mask and repeat step 3 making the yarn lengths longer.

Now your markers to add a face.

Then glue on a large popsicle stick to the back of the unicorn mask and you are finished.  If you don’t have any popsicle sticks you could punch a couple of holes in the side of the mask and use some ribbon or elastic to hold it in place.
