How to Make an Egg Carton Ladybug

This super cute Egg Carton Ladybug is definitely a fun kids craft idea. It’s easy to make and only requires a few things from around the house.

So let’s get started.

How to Make an Egg Carton Ladybug

First, let’s get everything ready so you can leave the little ones to get busy and avoid all those interruptions.

Skill Level – Easy

Time Required – 15 minutes

What you will need

• Egg carton
• Red paint
• Black pom pom
• Black pipe cleaner / Chenille stick
• Googly eyes
• Black marker
• Scissors
• Glue

Step 1

Cut out a cup from the egg carton and trim so it sits flat on the table. Why not make a couple while you have your craft kit out.

Step 2

Now it’s time to get messy with the paints.  Paint the egg carton cup red. Depending on your paints this may require a couple of coats of paint as it soaks into the egg carton.

Step 3

Once the paint has dried glue two googly eyes on to the black pom pom.  Make sure they are close together as this will be the front of the face.

Step 4

While the glue is drying on the google eyes cut a piece of black pipe cleaner about 6cm long.  Fold it in half and curl the ends over to make the antennae.

Step 5

Now comes the fun part as your child watches it all come together.  Get them to squirt a blob of glue on the flat side of the egg carton cup and place the pipe cleaner antennas on it so they are just popping up from the top.  Now add a little more glue and stick the black pom pom on top of the antennas. Push down hard so they all glue together.

Step 6

With your black marker have your child draw on the ladybug spots and there you have it.  A cute Egg carton Ladybug

Other Ideas

• Why not use the leftover egg carton to make other insects like a caterpillar, beetle or ant.
• You could change the colour of the egg carton shell to make a yellow or green lady bug.
