How to Make an Easy Paper Flower

If you enjoy making Paper Craft with your kids, why not try this super Easy Paper Flower idea. I’ll show you how to make a paper flower with a sheet of colored paper and a straw for a stem. They actually look really great when they’re finished and you could easily add a few to a vase for a colorful decoration around your home.

Or just make one and give it to someone to say ‘I Love You’.

These paper flowers are a perfect ‘Mothers Day’ Craft Idea for preschoolers and are perfect for small hands. Although, they might need a hand cutting up the strips, but you could just pre-cut them to make the craft time run smoothly.

Anyway let’s get started.

How to Make an Easy Paper Flower

Easy Paper FlowerFirst, let’s get everything ready so you can leave the little ones to get busy and avoid all those interruptions.

Skill Level – Easy

Time Required – 15 minutes

What you will need

  • Colored paper
  • Straws
  • Circle punch 1/12in
  • Glue
  • Sticky tape

Step 1

First, cut 16 strips of colored paper to use for the flower petals. For these flowers, the measurement for the strips are 1/3in x 5 3/4in (1cm x 15cm).

Next, you need to put a blob of glue on the end of the strips of paper and join the edges together.

When you have glued all the petals it’s time to start to start assembling your flower.  Punch a circle for the centre of the flower.  If you don’t have a punch you can either use a small cookie cutter, bottle cap or you could even cut it free hand.

 

 Step 3 - cut a paper circle

Start glueing the petals to the circle forming a cross.

 

 Step 4 - glue strips to circle

Then continue to place each petal diagonally from each petal until you have used all the petals.

 

 Step 5 -add all strips

Step 6

Once the glue has dried turn the paper flower over and sticky tape a straw to the back of the paper flower and you are finished.
