First, let’s get everything ready so you can avoid all those interruptions.
What you will need
- Paper Plate
- Paints
- Googly eyes
- Red card
- Scissors
- Glue
Step 1
Paint the inside of your paper plate your favourite snake color. Will it be a green tree snake or something more colorful? Let dry.
Step 2
Now for the paper plate snake body. Start off by cutting diagonally into the plate then cut parallel with the edge of the plate about 2cm. Continue spiral cutting around the plate (see attached photo).
Don’t cut all the way to the centre as this will be used as the head, instead, stop when you see an oval appear in the centre.
Step 3
Your child is are nearly done. Glue on a couple of googly eyes and cut out a forked tongue with the red card. Then glue the tongue to the underside of the plate.
Step 4
If you would like your snake to be a hanging paper plate snake add some string or fishing line to the top of the head.
Other Ideas
- To give your snake a bit more of a bounce how about using some elastic instead of the string.
- Make a few different colored snakes and attach to a clothes hanger and use it as a mobile
